Purpose and Scope:
The Buyer I is responsible for purchasing production materials, plant and maintenance equipment, supplies and services in accordance with prescribed purchasing regulations and procedures. They are responsible for reviewing and analyzing purchase requisitions, investigating and developing sources of supplies, issuing RFQ requests, and reviewing quotations. The ideal candidate will have problem solving skills, excellent communication skills, and an understanding of purchasing processes along with negotiation skills and the ability to manage vendor relationships
Primary Organization Responsibilities:
- Effectively represent the Monteris Medical in its relationships with vendors and suppliers to assure goodwill and continued availability of material.
- Partners with Quality to ensure selection and monitoring of supplier performance meet regulatory and business requirements.
- Review and analyze purchase requisitions, investigate and develop sources of supplies, issue Request for Quote (RFQ), review quotations and place purchase orders while adhering to established purchasing policies and procedures.
- Provide assistance to engineering and facilities personnel in preparing RFQ documents required for selecting products and suppliers. Provides support in analyzing the quotes and facilitates communication with vendors.
- Seek opportunities that drive continuous improvements around cost, quality and delivery which may include finding alternate sources of supply.
- Effectively communicates with others within the company.
- Continually seek to improve work processes and individual performance.
- Adhere to all company policies and operational procedures including all quality and safety standards.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Industrial Technology, Engineering, Supply Chain or related field or equivalent experience in a manufacturing, technical or business environment; medical device preferred
- 1-3 years of purchasing or procurement experience
- 1-3 years of experience working with an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system; Great Plains preferred
- Strong Microsoft Excel user
- Proficient computer skills including all Microsoft Office Suite products
- Strong preference towards data analytic skills and use of Microsoft PowerBI.
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
