Monteris expects that clinical trials will demonstrate that typical AutoLITT procedures can be out-patient procedures (i.e. “day surgery”) requiring under 23 hours for patient preparation, treatment and recovery, depending on individual hospital and patient variables.
•
Patient preparation and trajectory guide placement: 1-1½ hours
•
Treatment (assuming 2-3cm tumor): 1 hour
Procedure
•
Pre-procedure treatment planning.
•
Placement of the trajectory guide.
•
Pre-treatment treatment confirmation.
•
Treatment
•
Insert probe to first treatment location and direction
•
Fire 1st shot until thermal damage threshold achieved at tumor boundary.
•
Rotate probe to next direction, fire 2nd shot
•
Rotate probe to next complete treatment in first treatment plane. Fire 3rd shot
•
Rotate probe to next complete treatment in first treatment plane. Fire 4th shot
•
Advance or retract to next treatment plane, rotate probe to orient firing direction. Repeat procedure until entire tumor has been treated (coagulated).
•
Withdraw probe, remove trajectory guide, close.
Treatment is concluded.
•
Recovery
