As a Mechanical Engineering Technologist, your responsibility will be to assist with all aspects of the mechanical designs. You will be required to improve current designs, create new designs, coordinate the production of prototypes, produce technical documentation and perform any required testing to validate the design. You will be required to 'champion' projects and be responsible for scheduling design reviews, create technical drawings and reports, and assist with ordering custom components. Further, as a champion of a design, you will be responsible for collecting input and feedback directly from the users (ie. Neurosurgeons, MRI Techs, nurses, etc). Those are your highest priorities and you must exercise initiative, judgment and discretionary action to achieve them.

Here are some examples of the expected responsibilities:
- Improve existing designs / create new designs (Revise CAD models, update drawings, revise Manufacturing Processes / requirements and perform testing)
- Ensure that all modified / new designs meet the needs of the user (may require travel to meet with end users)
- Provide direction for the purchaser to properly source and order components
- Create any required incoming inspection documentation
- Schedule design reviews and take meeting minutes to properly track all design inputs
- Follow the rules of ISO 13485 (releasing documents, providing corrective actions, updating risk analysis and requirements, etc)
- Jig and fixture design for manufacturing or testing

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Strong 3D CAD skills with experience in Solid Edge or similar program
- Ability to write and review technical documents
- 3-5 years of experience designing multi-component products
- Experience with plastic designs for injection molding is an asset
- Ability to work with / test electro-mechanical assemblies
- Work closely with multi functional teams
